Why I practice:

Pilates grounds me.  For years I forced movement, ineffectively muscling through combinations at the ballet barre. I found Pilates to rid myself of pain. Yes, my hip pain disappeared; however, it was the ability to clearly understand the pathways of my body which ignited my love of Pilates. Today, I practice to maintain a state of discovery.

Why I teach:

For me teaching acts as a symbiotic transfer of energy—a giving and taking between mind and body. I teach to streamline a connection between movement and empowerment. Whether a person is dealing with injury or taking class to deepen their practice, I use Pilates and yoga vocabulary to create positive movement memories for my clients. When more individuals have a healthy relationship to movement, we better the environment for the world as a whole.
