Why I practice:
After spending my early 20s working in outdoor education and being hard on my body, I sustained a major back injury that led to surgery. I realized I needed to dedicate myself to my body and understanding injury, my nervous system and the brain-body connection. Pilates serves as a space for me to get out of my brain and into the intricacies of my body, its movement, and where it's storing emotion.
Why I teach:
My goal as a teacher is to make Pilates an accessible and inclusive healing practice for people of all bodies and backgrounds. I’m passionate about fostering an approachable and creative movement experience that enables embodiment and healing. Through my teaching, I aim to cultivate a sense of community and guide others in letting go of judgment, embracing movement, and feeling at home in their bodies.
What to expect in my class:
In my class, you can expect a movement practice that starts slow and is focused on intentional movement as class builds. I layer exercises to create a class suitable for all bodies- new movers and advanced practitioners alike. I aim to create a comfortable, supportive and challenging class that also brings a little levity and humor. You'll leave class feeling grounded and long.
