Why I Practice:
Shortly after moving to New York, I tore my labrum while showing off in a dance class. I was 22 years old, working in retail for minimum wage and open pilates mat classes were my only means of rehabilitation. What started as a way to keep my dancing body in check quickly became an obsession (as well as an incredibly fulfilling second career). Pilates has not only strengthened my body in immeasurable ways, It has informed my dance practice by inspiring me to stay curious about the moving body.
Why I Teach:
My favorite work days are when I witness a student's eyes light up because they’ve had some sort of breakthrough in class. It’s that wonderful learning moment when all the variables of an exercise start to make sense and progress happens. I teach to provide a positive movement experience for my clients, helping them find a deeper sense of power within their bodies.
